PANTHERS NOTCH HOMECOMING WIN
The Saint Jo Panthers rolled to a 50-0 win Friday over the Gold-Burg Bears. The game was called with under 2 minutes remaining due to the mercy rule. Despite a wet field, the Panthers amassed well over 300 yards of offense in the victory.
The Panthers scored on their first drive of the game on a 27 yard touchdown pass from Garrett Parker to Laramie Brawner. Brawner would pace the Panthers on the night with 3 total touchdowns, adding 2 rushing scores. Brawner would finish the night with 162 yards on the ground.
Daimeon Lawler would give the Panthers a 30-0 lead heading to halftime on a 1-yd touchdown reception from Parker. Lawler was also 4 of 6 on extra point attempts in the game. Anthony Gutierrez and Baltazar Lozano would close out the scoring for the Panthers with 4th quarter touchdown runs.
Along with Brawner’s stellar night rushing, Gutierrez added 70 yards and a score. Wyatt West would score a rushing touchdown and pick up 84 yards on 3 catches, while leading the defense with 2 interceptions on the night. Lozano was the leading tackler racking up 16 tackles while also recovering a fumble on the Bears first series. Parker pitched in 11 tackles, while Blake Pledger forced a fumble.
The Panthers will travel to Northside this Friday to battle the Indians. Game time will be 7:30 pm.
