Saint Jo High School, NCTC Host Red River Promise Signing Event
North Central Texas College hosted a signing event for seniors at Saint Jo High School recently to celebrate their commitment to furthering their education.
Almost 100% of the seniors have signed their pledge to the Red River Promise, many with plans to attend NCTC or a partnering 4-year institution in the fall.
The Red River Promise is a program that offers high school students from Cooke and Montague counties, as well as Graham ISD, the opportunity to attend college with varied support services and free tuition and fees.
Red River Promise Director Barbara Stanley said at the event, “Today we are celebrating the seniors - they have completed the first step in becoming a Red River Promise Scholar – and completed the Pledge online. With the pledge, you are pledging to yourself, to your future. You are not committing to a school or decision, but taking a stand to say I know I am in control of my life and what I make of it.”
NCTC counselors will continue to work with the seniors this semester and administration at Saint Jo to help the students make an informed decision about their educational future, whether that’s in the trades, academics, the military, or the workforce.
Seniors at the event signed a ceremonial banner, received a Red River Promise t-shirt, and took home yard signs to display.
